Straight up roulette is also referred to as the king of casino games. This is because it is quite popular.

In this game, a roulette wheel has 36 pockets that are painted with black and red colors. These colors alternate throughout the wheel and are numbered 1 – 36. The roulette wheel spins in one direction and the person manning the game will then set a small white ball spinning in the other direction. The winning number is the one in which the white ball stops at.

The straight up bet

It is simple to place a straight up roulette bet. The player places a bet that the ball will land in a particular number and if it doesn’t they lose the money they have wagered. The payout is normally thirty five to thirty-four dollars for each dollar that the player has placed in the bet. So, if they place one dollar then in a win, they get 34 or 35 dollars on top of that.

Risks in straight up bet

Roulette allows you to make bets according to your penchant for risk. You can a take a big risk or a small risk - the choice is yours, but the returns will be as per your bet. The higher the risks taken by a player in straight up bets, the better the winnings in terms of cash. However, the higher the risk the more money you will end up losing in the long run. The question every player is supposed to ask is how much money they are willing to lose, not how much money they are willing to win.

Different bets in straight up roulette

To minimize the risks on a straight up bet you may split the bet between two numbers that are close to each other in what is referred to as a split bet. In the case where you split the bet between 1 and 2 it means that if the ball falls in either of the two numbers you win. The split bet allows you to double your chances, but it also cuts into half the payout you can expect from the bet.

There is another means of minimizing the risks, and this is using a bet that allows you to split the bet among 3 – 6 numbers. A good example of this is the Trio bet and the Street bet. The street bet is placed on the outside area of a row of numbers in a horizontal format. It covers a player for 3 of these numbers. If you place your bet on 2, you are covered for 2, 3 and 4.

The trio bet is used to place bets on numbers in a triangle format and is placed at the intersecting point of these numbers. The player is then covered for all the numbers in the triangle. There is also the six line bet where the player is allowed to split a bet between 6 numbers.

These are just a few of the betting options you can use to minimize the risks in Straight –up bet roulette. There are other bets you can use but the focus should always be on the odds you are going for since the aim is not to win at all costs but to come off with a good amount of money to show for it.
